Bring your own Devices

Chromebooks

Chromebooks are now our device of choice for BYOD at Inglewood High School.

Here’s why:

• No setup needed, just log in with your Google account. No long load times, just flip it open and get busy doing anything other than waiting. And with a long-life battery (around 10 hours), you can leave your charger at home.

• Chromebooks stay synced with your Android phones & tablets, and everywhere you're signed in with your Google account - so your stuff stays with you, even when your chromebook doesn't.

• They can be plugged in, they have their own keyboard, you can use a mouse and the screen is protected when closed.

• You can use them even when not connected to wifi.

Security

For security, we recommend that chromebooks (or any other devices taken to school)  

• are set up with a password entry. 

• are clearly named and are easy to identify or differentiate from other similar devices

• are set up with remote tracking and locking where possible

Google Accounts

Year 9 students will have a google account created for them at the start of the year. All other students should already have an existing google account. These accounts are required to download apps onto your chromebook

Chromebooks do not need any antivirus software installed.
