Inglewood High School, Taranaki, New Zealand
The staff are professional, passionate and operate in a friendly, warm, caring atmosphere. Collegiality and collaboration are valued and actively fostered. We expect high standards from our students and role model those expectations at all times. Staff and students are genuinely cared about, and for, and there is an obvious desire to ensure that not just the academic needs of our students are met, but the emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of their lives are also considered. As a school we recognise the importance of technology and we make a concerted effort to be modern in our thinking and pedagogy. This necessitates being open to change, being adaptable and flexible. Staff and students also take time to reflect and examine how we can do things better as a school and as individuals. We strive to provide leadership opportunities for students at all levels. The school is divided into three whanau groups and while the regular whanau events and activities run throughout the year are designed to foster co-operation and participation, as well as a healthy sense of competition, they allow students to take a variety of leadership roles. In addition to this, the Year 13 Student Leaders have strategic roles within the school structure and make a valuable contribution to day to day school life. Our goal is that the education we provide for students at Inglewood High School will enable them face their futures with courage, strength, integrity and resilience, confident that they have the skills to meet the challenges of adulthood with maturity, dignity and grace.
